Corporate Information
Microforum is a privately held company founded in 1984 and based in Toronto Canada.
In the beginning the company focused its activities on the manufacture and assembly of storage devices
and media replication on floppy discs. Later, the company expanded to the areas of packaging and
corporate promotion.
Towards the end of the 80’s, the company gained a prominent role in the multimedia production area,
particularly with the creation of video, audio and animations, and the publishing and distribution of
multimedia products such as games and software utilities. As a result of its strength in the North American
market, Microforum decided to become a publicly traded company, and launched a successful IPO in 1995.
A strong presence in the European market, and particularly in Italy, lead to the establishment of Microforum
Italia, which only three years later managed to become one of the leading multimedia publishers and distributors
in Italy, with a nation-wide distribution network.
With its history and knowledge of software development and distribution, the firm entered the promising mobile
games and applications market at the end of 2002. In just two years, Microforum created a portfolio of over
twenty-five so-called “J2ME” games and utilities that are currently sold worldwide under the Microforum brand.
Microforum’s distribution network includes leading mobile operators (such as Vodafone, Orange, O2, Telefonica,
T-Mobile, Telia Sonera, SK Telecom, Hutchinson, Rogers, Telus, Virgin etc), mobile Internet portals, and content
aggregators.
In a competitive marketplace, Microforum has earned a reputation as one of the best J2ME developers around,
winning game development agreements with leading publishers such as Mforma, Sony Pictures Mobile and others.
In its current state Microforum is again a privately held company with strong footholds in the North American and
European markets.
